14 and 18 years old are about that starting age for the Spanish people that to start dating. But in some areas for Spain some of the people that start dating only date to plan on getting married. Now it is customary that the couples that want to get married have to be engaged, what symbolizes the engagement necklace or a ring. The couples can be engaged for several years and also may buy a home and start living together. But at a point of the engagement the boyfriend will ask his girlfriends father for his daughters hand in marriage, but how he will address her father will be mostly with a gift of some sort mostly a watch. Weddings of Spain usually start really late at night, and will end even later at night or early in the morning depending on how you look at it. When the ceremony starts to begin the bride will walk down with her father and behind them are flower girls and boys, plus there is no best man.

Now when the ceremony start it can up to an hour or longer, also communion are also taken at theses times. Also during the ceremony the rings are given to one another and most of the time the rings are nearly identical to one another. The rings will be worn on the right hand, there are also no speeches during the ceremony let alone a best man or ring barrier. During a Spanish wedding you will soon realize that there are many fireworks and lots of loud music and sing, all that is happening when the wedding is nearly finished and every one is happy and celebrating, in most traditions you will see that the bride will carry a bouquet of orange blossoms. What the orange blossoms are symbolizing is purity and chastity and none the less the everlasting love which is an evergreen known as the orange blossom tree.

Also instead of throwing a bouquet of flower the women in Spain has a basket of pins. What the are for is that when the ceremony is over the bride hands out all the pins to the women that arrived to the ceremony. What the women do with the pins is wear the up side down and have to dace until one woman’s pin has fallen out. What the symbolizes is since her pin has fallen out she will be the next girl to get married.
