Another tradition is that of the “ Lasso”. As part of the wedding
ceremony to symbolize unity, a large loop of the rosary beads is placed in a figure eight shape around the neck of the bride
and groom. The lasso is to show the union and protection of marriage. At the end of the marriage the lasso is removed, and
given to the bride as a moment of her becoming the mistress of the groom’s heart and home and shows their promise to
be together.
Most weddings use the Latin music of the Mariachi
at the recessional. Traditional weddings prepare special weddings cookies that are small, round pastries made of almonds,
flour and butter. Also a tradition is the groom’s cake, which is a gift from the bride to the groom.
